Marion Holland

American author and illustrator born in Washington in 1908. She wrote
two pony related books, one of which she illustrated herself, and a short pony story; plus a few other children's titles, mainly animal-related.

Her daughter, Barbara Holland followed in her mother's footsteps by also becoming an author and by writing pony stories too.

SUMMARY: Casey is sad to have outgrown her beloved pony but then she sees and falls in love with beautiful Vanity Fair. When the mare's owner has an accident Casey is allowed to ride her, but she longs to own Vanity for herself.

Collectors info:
The paperback edition of The Secret Horse is easy to find in the USA and fairly easy in the UK also. The hardback editions are much rarer. Casey Jones Rides Vanity is much harder to find in the UK, although still fairly easy in America.
